A lot of fashion design advice is geared toward women. But, as a guide, there’s nothing wrong with figuring out ways to customize your manly wardrobe. Reading through men’s magazines will probably only get you so far because they still tend to be the corporate version of suggesting that you be an individual. There is an inherent irony in that.
So, if you want to go out on your own pathway, consider custom screen printing your clothes, visiting thrift shops to see what’s there, presenting yourself with confidence, and watching out for groupthink. Collectively, those suggestions will allow you to create your own fashion persona.
Custom Screen Printing
One way to get completely original clothes is to screen print your shirts. This is not necessarily an inexpensive process, but it does mean that you will be entirely unique. If you can imagine how much it costs to purchase a high-end T-shirt from a store, then you won’t balk too much at the idea of screen printing your own version. Remember, you’re trying to be an individual, so buying a shirt that is the same as anyone else’s isn’t going to get you very far.
Visiting the Thrift Shops
Then there is the matter of visiting thrift shops. Especially if you live near a large city, there are amazing clothes that you can find that will be entirely unique. Plus, many of them already have their own character and are slightly worn. You can get everything from vintage to modern looks, and you can work with the stock that they have defined the collections of close they can really make you stand out. Thus, you’ll save a ton of money approaching your wardrobe from this direction.
Present Yourself With Confidence
It doesn’t matter what you wear if you don’t present yourself with confidence. Especially if you’re trying to improve your masculine output, your attitude needs to match what’s inside of your head, not what’s outside of your body. Learning how to walk with a confident posture can make all of the difference in the world regarding how people analyze your clothing.
Watch Out for Groupthink
You run into a lot of situations where groups of guys all look roughly the same. This kind of groupthink may allow people to feel comfortable and safe within the realm of familiarity, but it doesn’t do much for improving your sense of customized masculinity. Social order is important. But if you want to stand out as an individual, you have to look outside of the constraints of the group of people that you hang out with. If you’re trying to attract someone to you, there still has to be something about you that is unique, and that’s something to think about as you’re choosing your wardrobe.
